How to Avoid weight loss scams
There are countless weight-loss systems out there. The battle of the bulge is a huge industry and people will spend loads of money trying to lose the extra pounds. Unfortunately, alongside all the good programs out there, there are plenty of bad ones. Here are some tips to prevent you from being taken in.
1. Know exactly what you are getting. If it is a diet pill or potion, what’s in it? Have you heard of the ingredients? Do they include indecipherable chemical names or “exotic berries known only to the ancient tribes of Polynesia”? Don’t buy an item without knowing what each ingredient is and what it does.
2. Know exactly how much you are paying. The product or service may have a wonderfully low “introductory price” that’s followed by an exorbitantly high monthly fee that’s nearly impossible to cancel later. Or, that health club might have counseling or supplements ñ for an additional fee. Calculate all the charges carefully before signing on the dotted line.
3. Know if others have succeeded. Ask your friends or relatives if they have heard of the program and what they know about it. Search online for customer opinions and expert reviews. Carefully consider both the positive and negative opinions. Consider whether the system is safe, effective and lives up to its claims.
4. Know if the company is reputable. Various diet pills and exercise products have been pulled from the market because they have been found to be unsafe. In other cases, companies have been banned from selling their products, only to change names and attempt to sell them under a slightly different formula. A few minutes of searching online can save you a lot of frustration–and a lot of money — later on.
5. Know whether the product or service will fit in with your lifestyle. Have you ever bought a diet cookbook only to find that the recipes call for exotic ingredients not found in your part of the world? Or, have you ever bought a piece of exercise equipment that was so awkward to use that it just sat in the basement until your next yard sale? Think about each purchase before laying out the cash.
6. Know if other accessories are needed. Even the best products may need additional items to get the desired results. That fitness video game may need upgraded controllers. That exercise video may require an additional set of hand weights. Sometimes these needs are legit, but sometimes they are just intended to get you to buy more stuff.
7. Know what else you’ve tried already. “Insanity” has been defined as continually doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. If you’ve tried every diet shake out there only to gorge yourself at the end of the first day, then trying the latest-and-greatest version is not the way to go.
These seven tips will help you to stay away from weight-loss system scams. Be cautious and you will lose weight in your waist, not in your wallet.
